At The Edgewood Centre, the quality and integrity of the staff is the cornerstone of our reputation for exceptional nursing home care.
The facility is staffed by a close-knit team of dedicated professionals who specialize in five star service and heartfelt caring.
Edgewood Centre: Family First
Edgewood's tradition of providing skilled nursing and personal care began more than 30 years ago. This tradition has continued and grown stronger under the leadership of Patricia Ramsey who assumed ownership for her family in 1985.
The atmosphere is decidedly non-corporate, with management and staff who know residents and families personally and a decision making policy that is based on ethics, service, and integrity.
Skilled Nursing Care
The Edgewood Centre has earned a widespread reputation for outstanding service and innovation.
Edgewood now sets the standard for effective total health programs with a staff of highly trained and dedicated nursing care professionals.
The skilled nursing staff at Edgewood includes diverse and specially trained professionals with demonstrated competence and knowledge. Specialties include restorative care, hospice care, infection control, nutrition, therapeutic recreation, Alzheimer's care, medical social work, and skilled rehab services-occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy
Consulting services are provided on-site at Edgewood, allowing residents to conveniently meet diverse medical and personal needs. Podiatry, psychiatry and mental health services, dentistry, laboratory work, neurology, internal medicine, radiology, pharmacy, and orthopedic consultation are all available at the facility.
On-Site Physician Services
Edgewood has two highly skilled and involved medical directors, Dr. Peter Dicks and Dr. Richard Attenborough. Dr. Dicks received his M.D. from Dartmouth Medical School and is on the staff of Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Dr. Dicks is licensed and Board Certified in New Hampshire and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Dr. Attenborough graduated with MRCS and LRCP degrees from King's College Hospital in London. He is licensed in New Hampshire as a medical doctor and is one of the few certified medical directors in the state. He has been practicing medicine in the region for 34 years and has been the medical director of The Edgewood Centre since 1972.
Both Dr. Dicks and Dr. Attenborough are in the building seeing residents twice each week and are highly involved in their patients' care.
Working at Home: Our Home
With on-site child care and the friendly environment of a family run facility, Edgewood's atmosphere is comfortable and supportive.
Wellness programs and services such as massage and Reiki are offered to staff, residents, and family members.
From the moment of admission, residents and families become a part of the larger Edgewood family and are welcomed with open arms.
Longevity and Consistency
At The Edgewood Centre, out of a staff of 230 people, we have over fifty staff members who have worked at this nursing facility for ten years or longer. Nursing staff are scheduled on consistent assignments, providing residents assurance that they will be cared for by people they know and trust.
Staff Ratios that Support Quality Care
The high ratio of staff to resident assures individualized, high quality care and prompt, sensitive attention to patient and family needs.
Residents are cared for not only by nursing and rehab therapists but also a large and talented therapeutic recreation and social services staff. Food Service, housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance staff are all part of the care team-providing input into resident care planning meetings and assisting residents with non-medical needs whenever necessary.
The approach is that of a team...and a winning one at that.
An Environment that Fosters Excellence
With opportunities to further one's education and move into positions of increased responsibility, The Edgewood Centre fosters employee growth.
The staff are vibrant and energized, contributing to Edgewood's reputation for excellent nursing care in a warm and friendly environment.
