A Lovely Place to Live
The Edgewood Centre, a New Hampshire nursing home, is located near the heart of downtown Portsmouth. The area is an hour north of Boston and close to the ocean and beaches of New Hampshire and southern Maine. Residents take advantage of the beautiful location on weekly scenic bus tours, outings such as a fall foliage river cruise, and outdoor events in Edgewood’s courtyard all summer long.
Experienced Care Teams
The Edgewood Centre is an 156 bed facility dually licensed for both intermediate and skilled levels of care. A team of nursing and rehab professionals provide restorative care, IV therapy, wound care, physical, occupational and speech therapies, nutritional management, skilled nursing, cardiac care, orthopedic rehab, hospice care and on-site wellness programs.
Professional Services
In an effort to make caring for oneself as easy as possible, Edgewood provides a range of ancillary services on-site including coordinating transportation to appointments/cultural events/ shopping, full meal service, audiology, dental and medical care, podiatry, laboratory work, 24 hour medication administration, and beauty, barber, and spa services. We have contracts with insurance providers such as Federal Blue Cross, Martin's Point, and Blue Cross of New Hampshire.
Care for the Mind and Body
Professional services by Edgewood’s on-site social services team provide residents and families with the support needed as they transition to a new home. Social workers assist families with Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance concerns and advocate for residents, ensuring prompt service and dignified treatment.
Pediatric Services
The choices amongst nursing homes in New Hampshire for parents of children with complex medical conditions are limited. Edgewood provides this level of care in our specialized pediatric program. Children with congenital and degenerative conditions take advantage of our regular and dependable schedule of physical therapy, skilled nursing services, and specialized recreational programs. Resident-Centered Nursing Care
The emphasis of the nursing department at The Edgewood Centre is on the whole person. Beginning on the day of admission, the resident and family are welcomed by a group of professionals who begin to develop a personalized plan of care to meet individual needs and preferences. Do you prefer to get up early in the morning or have breakfast in bed? Do you like to eat eggs, bacon, and pancakes or fresh fruit and pastries for breakfast? Would you rather take a whirlpool bath or a long, hot shower? The goal of Edgewood’s nursing team is not only to provide skilled, professional medical services, but also to meet and exceed the personal care needs and expectations of each resident.
Restorative Care
Rehabilitation therapists in Edgewood’s restorative care program work with residents on ambulation skills, strengthening exercises, and flexibility. They are dedicated to helping each resident maximize his or her level of independence and quality of life. The specialized attention residents receive as part of Edgewood’s restorative care and wellness programs has helped residents regain function in large and small motor skills…in other words, they help people who are wheelchair-bound get back on their feet again.
A Full Social Calendar
Many residents choose to live at Edgewood for the opportunity to live a fuller life with on-site activities and social events. At The Edgewood Centre we provide a lively and loving community and dedicated staff who work hard to address individual resident needs with a variety of activities offered seven days a week. These activities can be viewed in more detail on our calendar page. It’s important to know that in keeping with Edgewood’s family environment, resident family members are always welcome at any activity or event, free of charge. In addition, there are no visiting hours; family are welcome anytime of the day or night. We want residents and families to feel at home at Edgewood.
