2011 New Hampshire LNA of the Year

“To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.”

Each year Edgewood nominates one LNA from many, many fantastic staff people to compete against other LNAs from around the state for the honor of becoming The New Hampshire Health Care Association (NHHCA) LNA of the year.

Candy Kuchman: 2011 New Hampshire LNA of the Year

Candy Kuchman, a consistent caregiver in the west community at Edgewood Centre, was named the 2011 New Hampshire LNA of the Year.

Candy’s nomination included not only praise from co-workers and from Tricia, Edgewood’s administrator, but also a heartfelt description of what a difference Candy made for a particular Edgewood resident.

Making a Difference

This gentleman had been a very active, vibrant person until he suffered a severe stroke. He went on to live in 14 different facilities in 3 states prior to finding his way to The Edgewood Centre and to Candy Kuchman.

They developed a relationship that was deep and meaningful in spite of his challenging behaviors.

In his daughter’s words, “Candy was able to look beyond the immediate behaviors and see the person within.”

Seeing the Person Within

This resident appreciated that Candy was real with him, that she got right to the point and that her interactions with him were not about going through the motions.

Who did this highly accomplished world traveler, executive businessman and educator call for in the middle of the night on the day before he died? Candy Kuchman.
