From the Philippines to Portsmouth, NH
Delsa Minster was an RN in her native country, the Philippines. Due to difficulties with her foreign license transferring to the U.S., Delsa started as an LNA at Edgewood in 2002.
Within two years, Delsa was honored as LNA of the year.
An Opportunity for Growth
When an opportunity for growth came at Edgewood, Delsa jumped at the chance to train to become a MedTech. Edgewood paid the full price for attendance on top of continuing to pay Delsa’s wages while she was in the three-week training program.
Resident Care Coordinator in Short Stay Rehab
She is now an LNA, MedTech, and Resident Care Coordinator in the short stay rehab community at Edgewood.
Delsa’s responsibilities are broad – she coordinates the schedules for the LNAs, schedules appointments for the residents, assists residents with care needs, and distributes medications.
“Everyone is Just Smiling and Happy!”
“When I came here, the welcome that I could feel just amazed me. I didn’t drive yet in this country and my husband picked me up. If I had to work later because of the needs of a resident, he would sit and wait for me. He would say, ‘I can’t believe the place you work, Delsa, everyone is just smiling and happy!’”
