The Edgewood Center Transfers Ownership to Green Tree Healthcare Management

Portsmouth, N.H. – August 4, 2022 – After 50 years of multi-generational family ownership, the Edgewood Center in Portsmouth became part of Green Tree Healthcare Management effective at the beginning of August. Run by the Ramsey family, the award-winning center focuses on long-term care and rehabilitative services and is known for its resident-focused care and support services. The new owners do not intend on making any significant changes to the center or its mission.

Normand A. Ramsey built the Edgewood Center in 1972 as a place to nurture and care for others. His daughter, Patricia Ramsey, took over ownership in 1985 and has run the center for the past 37 years. She transferred ownership of the skilled nursing facility to Green Tree in early August but is remaining as the owner of the Inn at Edgewood. Tricia Cummings, who has been with the Edgewood Center for 30 years and currently serves as Administrator, is continuing in this role after the ownership change.

“Through hard work, a dedicated staff and a commitment to always put resident care first, we have developed a reputation as the place of choice in Portsmouth for outstanding rehabilitative and long-term care,” Ramsey said. “I am proud and eternally grateful for the tireless efforts of the staff that have made Edgewood what it has become over the past half-century.”

Green Tree currently owns four nursing care facilities – three in Rhode Island and one in Maryland incorporating an Assisted Living Facility as well. The company is owned by Ari Stern and Simon Stern. Ramsey said the Green Tree owners take great pride in providing quality care and appreciate Edgewood’s reputation as they were equally as selective in choosing our facility.

“Although I find it difficult to think about a transition from what has been my life’s work, I am greatly comforted in knowing there are others in our Long-Term Care Community who share our vision of 5-Star Quality Care. I enthusiastically support the people at Green Tree and what they have to offer for Edgewood’s future success and for the talented and caring team we have in place,” Ramsey said.

The Green Tree mission revolves around taking care of its employees financially and culturally. This focus enables its staff to be able to take the best possible care of its residents by maintaining a caring and supportive environment committed to the highest quality of life and standards of professional care.

“We see a true alignment of mission between Green Tree and the Edgewood Center. They have been serving this community with a commitment to care for 50 years and we are excited to have the center and its team under the Green Tree umbrella,” Ari Stern said.

Ramsey concurred and believes the center will be in great hands between the new owners and the current team to continue serving the community for many years to come.

“The dedication of our team members to every individual resident, each family member and to each other is what has created the culture that visitors feel when they walk through our doors,” Ramsey said. “These experiences with our residents and families have been nothing less than a gift that has defined us as an organization and as individuals. It has truly been our life’s work and we all know that we have received more than we have given.
